Special Story about a very special dog (BUDDY)! Buddy (aka Gulliver) was re-homed in March 2008. He was rescued from the Pound as a juvenile pup. His adopter, Lorraine, has trained and competed with Buddy in Agility Competitions over the years. He has represented Northern Ireland 4 times at Crufts in the Inter-regional obedience team event!
This recent photo of Buddy jumping was taken by Simon Rodgers at his most recent competition. Lorraine sent us this latest news about Buddy -- "I'm so proud of my Buddy boy! We both have been selected to represent Northern Ireland Team in the World Agility Open in May 2016 in the 525 height! A special thanks to those who have believed in us and encouraged us over the last few months Laura McAleese and Ronnie, and of course to Curt Mullan for teaching us his moves!"
When I asked Lorraine is there is anything else she wanted to add about the "agility star" she stated: "The only other thing is what a wonderful best friend he is!" Lorraine sent the photo of Buddy resting after a long walk -- well done to Buddy and his wonderful owner, Lorraine.

TIMMY'S STORY 12/8/15 - ACT OF CRUELTY
Today at 10:30 am we received a phone call from a gentleman informing us he had come across a dog stuck on a gate in his field tangled in wire and he could not manage to get it freed. On arrival, we discovered this wee dog was not tangled up in wire but deliberately TIED with cable wire around his neck to the bottom of the cattle gate so tight he could not get up and was gasping for air, their was a big stick placed in front of this wee boy to camouflage him. Timmy is a very lucky dog that this gentleman went back to check his cattle this morning after moving them yesterday evening and stumbled upon him.
We are deeply appalled that someone would do this to a helpless animal and believe this was the right thing to do?? There is absolutely no need for this to happen when there is help out there, we are here 7 days a week and always on the end of the phone if you are unable to keep your animal(s) PLEASE ring us (047)70512 and arrange for it to come into our care.
IF ANY ONE HAS ANY INFORMATION AS TO HOW THIS WEE DOG, TIMMY, ENDED UP IN THIS APPALLING SITUATION PLEASE RING US.

BOBBY BAWN - 5 YEAR OLD SHETLAND (DUMPED/ABANDONED)
This is Bobby Bawn and here is his story. He is approx. 5 years old and a real pet who had been in great discomfort (see photo). The MSPCA received an email about an abandoned/dumped Shetland pony in the Bawn area that a caring person had reported to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust on the 18th May. We went out to the location on 19th May and took photos and spoke to the Dept. of Agriculture and our local Dept. of Environment. Dermot Forde from the Dept. of Agriculture went to the location on 21st of May and arranged for an "emergency seizure notice" to be placed the following day. We arranged for a farrier to trim Bobby Bawns hooves prior to transport and removal on Saturday, 23rd. Thanks very much to Claire Owens at the Trust for her advice and guidance. Thanks goodness Sinead was able to find him a rescue place at Hungry Horse Rescue in Co. Longford. We have learned that Bobby Bawn now has a home in Germany along with another pony that was collected the same day! Thanks goes to Tony Caldwell for transport and care and also to Breen (Farrier).

EARLY WARNING SYSTEM FOR ANIMAL WELFARE
The above scheme is in operation in Co. Monaghan since 2005 and was implemented to alert actual or potential animal welfare problems on farms, particularly from early Winter through to late Spring. Three main groups involved in the early intervention are, Monaghan SPCA, Department of Agriculture and the Irish Farmers Association and, if required, the Garda Siochana under the protection of Animals Act. We would ask the public to be vigilant and if they feel there is cause for concern to please contact the MSPCA, confidentiality is assured at all times.
The main causes of concern at this time of the year are lack of feed and shelter or maybe an animal which has sustained an injury which is not being attended to.
THESE NEGLECTED ANIMALS NEED YOUR VOICE. SO PLEASE, IF WORRIED LIFT THE PHONE - CONTACT LORI O'NEILL ON 086-8262-956 OR SINEAD MCKENNA ON 086-8262-885. THANKS FOR CARING!
